Continuing out theme plant-friendly design objects, here are some furniture designs that allow you to have a little green garden of your own in a small apartment. If there’s no room for a garden some will still find a way to grow a bush of favorite flower or plant or a small Bonsai tree. Plant-Friendly Furniture Designs
Martín Azúa created this chair as part of his The inner life series. A chair that is made for sitting, growing plants and housing a turtle…for example. The side of the chair features a green plant growing from inside of it and at the bottom there is a small cave for an animal.
Comfortable Silence, a project by Jory Brigham Design combines the pieces of furniture like benches and cabinets with built-in planter pots for flowers and Bonsai trees. One of these benches could decorate a dark dusty hallway.
The picNYC Table by Haiko Cornelissen is an amazing way to have a lawn if you live in an apartment building. As the name sugests it also allows having picnics at home.
If you want just a strip of green grass there is another table design that looks like a more familiar wooden table but features a hidden plastic planter under the tabletop and a space for the grass to grow tall. Designed by Emily Wettstein this table is a great suppler of green fresh herbs.
When it comes to storage it doesn’t mean the dust and darkness are a must. A2 & A2 designed a Street/Multi Unit that houses books, magazines and planter pots creating a great green dynamic in the room making the storage more fresh and eco-friendly.
