Stained Glass Ceiling in Hotel Room

Hotel room in 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville (USA) has become the site for the artistic sculptural installation of the design duo from New York, Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe. The room continues to bear its primary function – it is open to guests, but its appearance and the interior resemble the raging elements, which correspond to the name of the installation “Asleep in the Cyclone”.

When creating this sculptural installation the designers were inspired by the creativity of artists of the ideological community Drop City of 1960’s. The main feature of the installation lies in the contrast that creates this bright multi-colored design in the country style eco interior.

The designers not only changed the look of some of the items in the interior of the room, but also changed their functions. Abstract pattern on the ceiling gently merging with the windows is paved in a mosaic by colored glass and various textiles. This piece of interior design is at odds with the calm and peaceful country style. It causes wild delight and creates a completely different atmosphere in the room. The ceiling sets the overall mood in the room.

To maintain the effect of a piece of explosive joy and emotion in a gray and boring environment the designers created furniture and interior items, which also evoke joyful associations: record player and records selected by the artists, cabinet of curiosities with sculptures, collages and books, created and selected by the designers, rocking chair and antique writing desk.
