Front Yard Landscaping Ideas

Front yard is the first thing besides the house that catches the eye so it’s important to keep it not only clean but also decorated. There are many ways to improve your landscape. Start with drawing a plan to know what elements you want in your front yard and how to bring them together.

Pathway

A pathway maybe be the obvious idea but it does make sense and besides you can choose any design and add flower beds along the pathway. It’s also less demanding than a lawn and can be surrounded with gravel instead of plants if you want a low-maintenance landscape.

Fountain

A fountain is not only a great decoration but can also be used as a focal point in your landscape around which you can build flower beds or plant bushes. If you have kids and don’t want to have water wells around, opt for fountain-like pedestal planters that will accent your landscape without any dangers of a fountain.

Topiaries

Topiaries are great for decorating a front yard as they can make an improvised gate that leads to an entry as well as add detail to your lawn. You can place two identical topiaries at the pathway or right at the door or you can place one in the middle of the lawn to create a focal point.

You can also arrange a few topiaries of same or different shapes to make a statement accent. Other decorations include statement planter pots, garden statues, and gnomes. Even rocks and boulders in your front yard can be used for building a rock garden whereas old tree stumps can too be dealt with using less demanding solutions.

Make sure your front yard has a cohesive landscape that you can maintain. A big lawn or too many topiaries may require more time, effort and money than a smaller simpler landscape with a focal point and a beautiful pathway.
