Eco-Friendly Cleaning Ideas & Tips
Natural & Green Cleaning Products
Baking Soda
Baking soda is one of the best green cleaning products out there. It does not only clean but also deodorizes spaces. You can put a box of open baking soda into the refrigerator as a way to get rid of odor.
Lemon
Lemon is very acidic so it doesn’t only remove stains and odors but also kills bacteria. Windows, mirrors, plastic containers, and microwaves can be cleaned using lemon juice and water. You can also use it to remove rust stains, grout, grease and odors.
White Vinegar
White vinegar is a great natural cleaning product that will clean and sanitize your home and appliances. It can also be used to polish metals and removing film and buildup on various surfaces.
Soap
Unscented soap is biodegradable so it’s better to use it instead of other harsher chemicals and commercial cleaning products full of toxins. Soap can not only be used for cleaning home but you can also use it outdoors as a green pesticide.
Mold and mildew can be a nuisance but you can easily remove those with undiluted vinegar or lemon and a sponge.
Stains can be treated differently depending on their sources. Greasy stains can be removed by applying corn starch to them for half an hour. Rust can be treated with salt and lim juice. Apply the mixture for 2 – 3 hours, then wipe away.
Deodorize toilet with vinegar or remove odors from mattress by applying a solution of white distilled vinegar and water.
