Moss In Interior And Product Design
Moss is an amazing plant. It requires low maintenance and can grow in dark spaces which makes it an ideal choice for urban home dwellers who long for the sight of some greenery. We saw many small terrariums like this one for growing moss on a home desk but there are more unconventional designs that allow incorporate the plant into the interior like moss walls, rugs and tiles.
Moss In Home Decor & Interior Design
MOSStiles by Benetti Stone Philosophy is a series of tiles covered with moss that come in 12 shades. The tiles can be used in walls as vertical garden or just a green arrangement in various shades. The moss lives off of humidity in the air requiring no watering or other maintenance.
Terramac® is a biodegradable knitted fabric designed by flower artist Makoto Azuma in collaboration with Unitika Ltd that allows to grow plants like moss and can be used as a carpet or a living floor.
‘Moss Carpet’ designed by Nguyen La Chanh is made of plastazote and planted with three kinds of moss, which gives it a patterned look with white moss planted diagonally amidst grass green and light green mosses. Also a bathroom seems like an ideal place for moss.
‘Moss Table’ is just a concept design but it prompts the further research into alternative power supply. Here the moss planted in small pots is already able to power digital clocks and in future may even produce enough power for a lamp or other bigger devices.
Although the moss used in renovation of this house was dry it still gives a striking look to the walls. The ‘Moss House’ renovated by Nendo features walls covered in twirls made of green moss against the white walls. Stretching up to the ceiling the green pattern makes for an amazing wall decor.
