Apartment in East Hampton, New York
Apartment in East Hampton by Narofsky Architecture and Ways2Design is a modern hut, no more, no less.
Modern Hut in New York State
Facade with Swimming Pool
Surrounded by green trees and lawn this house looks more like a resort. Even the pool in front of the house is made in shape of a lake. Courtyard is close to pristine nature, but at the same time there is no hint to an unkempt look. A small garden and lawn is cut very carefully, and walkways to the house are covered with slabs. Morning sun enters through the tree’s branches into the house that has wooden framed glass walls. Glass panels allow observing the refreshing yard, whose view is changing by seasons, but always keeps looking beautiful and shares its calm. Here everything is permeated with natural materials.
In evening the house illuminated by soft electric light, which sets off the white walls and concise wood veneer furniture. Wicker chairs in the dining room and the organic stone fireplace add to the hut’s atmosphere, making it feel like you are in a shelter from a noisy city.
All projects by Narofsky Architecture and Ways2Design have a strong connection to Mother Nature. Two studios started working together in 2004. As they say about themselves: “As a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), we practice in architecture in which innovation and environmental responsibility is a goal, and design is used as a tool towards that end”. Both heads Stuard Narofsky and Jennifer Rusch were awarded in the several competitions, including Best in New York in 2008 and “the President’s Medal” from the Long Island AIA in 2011.
