Outside The Box Decorating Ideas

Sometimes if you want to create an interesting and unique interior you have to think way outside the box to find creative solutions that are unique but functional still. There are many ways to decorate your home without creating the all too familiar look or recreating one particular style.

Take, for instance, wallpaper. There are so many ways to use it in decor. This cut out variant may look too labour-intensive but the end result is surely worth it. If you don’t want to spend time cutting it out you could simply install it selectively especially in such areas like bathroom that have narrower walls. The same goes for tiles, you can mix and match colors and textures if not shapes and create a unique edging with hexagon or rhomboid shaped tiles.

Experiment with furniture pieces and their purpose. It’s always fun and unexpected to see re-purposed items in decor even if you’re not recycling but simply trying to create a fresh look. Thus decorative planters that fit wit your decorating style will do great as towel holders in the bathroom or dressers and nightstands as storage space in the bathroom or kitchen.

One plant that makes looks unexpected indoors is moss. But while you could incorporate it into your interior design, you could go a simpler but no less impressive route with a moss-filled garden bowl, which makes a beautiful centerpiece and require little to no light or maintenance.

Handmade, of course, never ceases to be one of the surest ways to add something unique to your home decor. It could be a mirror backdrop, a DIY repurposing project or an IKEA upgrade.
