Victorian decorating style has originated during Victorian era and is commonly described as opulent and luxurious. Victorian style is nowhere near minimalism. It is very in decorations, accessories, which are quite ornate and flamboyant themselves. Shortly, the more you have on display the better. But in order to avoid clutter there are main features that make Victorian style so special.

There are many color options in Victorian decorating style. Deep hues, pastels, neutrals, you can choose the ones that suit your tastes. Rich textures against the bright shades in upholstery and wall coverings are common for Victorian style.

As you may see from pictures and descriptions of Victorian style furniture plays a great role in Victorian decor. Victorian style furniture is very luxurious and ornate. Decorations and accessories can be collected from traveling or antique shops or flee markets. Collections of antiques are also on display in Victorian style decor.

Exotic materials and heavy woods were made available during Victorian era. But today you can find pieces of Victorian style furniture in cheaper materials. Velvet, leather and other luxurious fabrics are common in Victorian decor.
