Marbelous Wood by Snedker ° Studio
Marbelous Wood by Pernille Snedker Hansen is an amazing creation that reinvents wood as a finishing material we’ve known for a very long time. Using an old marbling techniques Pernille Snedker Hansen of Snedker ° Studio has achieved this beautiful bright and colorful effect on the wood boards each of which is made by hand. Description from Snedker ° Studio:
Marbelous Wood challenges the way we use wood in our built environment, where function and aesthetics reach a sublime level of harmony.
Pernille Snedker Hansen has repurposed an old marbling technique giving wood a supernatural, organic, colorful and vibrant pattern. The applied decoration engages in a dialogue with the natural growth rings of the underlying wood.
Marbelous Wood reveails the mysteries in wood, exposing its story and immense details embodied in nature.
A technique used for Marbelous Wood combines an old Japanese marbling technique called suminagashi and an old Western marbling technique.
Pernille Snedker Hansen says she has chosen this technique to emphasize the wood’s texture. Using a bath and paint of various colors Hansen looks for interesting patterns and captures them on the paper first and only then works with the wood.
Marbelous Wood is truly amazing and shows off the wood’s texture in its fullest. Rainbow-colored floors or walls look amazing, each board has its own unique pattern and set of hues that can be customized for buyers. The Marbelous Wood was created for Danish Crafts Collection but is also available for purchase through Snedker ° Studio.
