Plant-Friendly Lamp Designs
Glasshouse Lamp
A Glasshouse Lamp with a greenhouse effect by Kristýna Pojerová is definitely more than a light source. Created from a glass bowl with holes the Glasshouse lamp looks like a terrarium for growing plants. Filled with soil the lamp provides conditions for the plants to grow right under the gentle glow of a lightbulb.
Green Lamp
A Green Lamp design by Zuzanna Malinowska is a planter pot, trellis and a lamp all in one. The lamp’s base is a pot filled with soil and its shade features only a metal frame which can be used as a trellis for climbing plants. Brilliant!
Photosynthesis Lamp
A Photosynthesis Lamp by designer Meirav Barzilay is basically a metal shade for vine type plants that can be grown in a pot fix to it under the light of the lamp. As the vine grows it will cover the metal frame creating a natural living lamp shade.
Live Lamp
Live Lamp from toHOLD is a gently glowing orb covered with live Fuschii v Gracillis tillandsia air plants that survive on the surface of the lamp thanks to UV, air and a bit of moisture. To maintain the plants you can remove the orb and run it under water or mist the plants once a week. It’s available from toHold’s Etsy shop but comes in limited edition.
Chandelier by Bocci
Designed by Omer Arbel this cluster chandelier consists of multiple blown transparent glass orbs filled with white opaque smaller orbs that include lighting elements or small planter pots.
