Interesting Kitchen Design By CUBE Architecten
Kloveniersburgwal House is a canal house in Amsterdam. Its owner’s love for cooking prompted a refurbishment project fulfilled by CUBE Architecten. Now the house features an interesting kitchen that is both functional and social.
Interesting Kitchen Design
The house is a former shop that was redesigned into a loft. The goal was to seamlessly introduce new addition to the place. The architects added an elevated kitchen. The floors are made of old floorboards and the kitchen cooking area in white Corian. The working zone in the kitchen is literally flowing into a dining area with a suspended table and industrial lighting. At the other end, however, there is a more informal seating area created as a continuation of the floor and filled with colorful throw pillows while,
The solution is quite interesting. There is a dining area and a lounge space where the guests may relocate once they are done with dinner. Placing a kitchen in between these spaces the architects fulfilled the owner’s wish to interact with his guests while he is cooking.
Another interesting feature that caught our eye in this house is a long wall illuminated from at the ceiling and the floor. Filling the hallway with dim yellow glow the wall acts as storage space with niches for display objects. At one of the sides the wall features a wine storage.
This unusual kitchen definitely has an interesting design. The intimate relationship of the kitchen and dining room prompts friendly and social atmosphere. This connection is also possible thanks to a conjoined kitchen table and a dining table. They could be two different units but it wouldn’t have the same effect. Here an elevated kitchen table is linked to a dining table with a waved element that helps adjust the height of the dining table.
