Inception Chair by Vivian Chiu

Everyday objects can be interesting. Designer Vivian Chiu has created an Inception Chair with the visual effect of the chair corridor extending forward. Interesting and exciting!

Inception Chair designed by Vivian Chiu looks interesting and unusual. Vivian Chiu has created a visual illusion incorporating multiple chair frames into an Inception Chair design. The end result makes the chair seem to extend forward.

Taking the chair archetype and placing within it chairs that are progressively smaller. Each chair has hand cut grooves on the inside edges of its seat frame as well as notches in the seat back. These grooves range from 1/2” wide to 1/8” wide. The mechanism works so that the pegs fit into the grooves of the chair one size bigger and slides into place so that the horizontal edge between the chair seat and back line up. The simple mechanism allows the chairs to be taken apart and put together with ease.

With this interesting visual effect the chair looks unusual and creative. Made out of ash the chair has a classic and recognizable shape, natural wood finish, but that visual effect really gives it a twist.
