TV Show Set: Mad Men Interior Designs
Mad Men is bringing the retro back or it would be more accurate to say, it’s brought the retro back. The fashion, the style is so appealing and glamorous we cannot help noticing all the stylish interiors. Mad Men sets are very detailed and stylish. They do not only carry the style of the 60′s but they look lived in and natural.
The Mad Men sets can be a great source of inspiration when it comes to interior design. Take for example, the characters’ offices. Each has its own style and feel. Don Draper’s office has its wood paneled walls, short brick red curtains and an eye catchy artwork on the wall opposite the desk. Bert Cooper’s office is filled with artworks and pieces while Roger Sterling’s retro futuristic new office is simply stunning.
The homes also vary from season to season, place to place and from character to character. First Don and Betty Draper’s house is spacious, traditional and homey, then Don’s apartment is small-spaced and moody. In the season five of the show the new Don Draper apartment that he shares with new wife Megan is contemporary and stylish. There’s a white carpet covering the floors, stylish bar stools by the open kitchen bar, built in lighting and colorful pillows and lamp acting as accents in decor. The living room also has a glass wall entrance which is decorated with curtains in retro pattern and that leads to the open terrace.
To create a Mad Men-inspired interior design opt for retro style furniture with simple shapes and sleek lines. Choose retro patterns for wall coverings or curtains and upholstery. Choose turquoise, salmon, mustard, olive or brown hues to create a colors scheme for the room.
