Scrapwood Wallpaper by Piet Hein Eek
The most important thing about any interior is its background. That’s why designers and architects pay so much attention to developing new colors and textures for floors and wall coverings. Here is an innovation from a Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek.
Almost Like Actual Timber
The first piece of wallpaper from Scrapwood collection appeared in 2010. It imitated wooden boards with very accurate lines and timber structure. Recently designer has worked out some more details for the wallpaper pattern. Now they imitate the old wooden boards battered with time and weather. Thick structure of the wallpaper also imitates gaps and cracks of the old timber.
Since 2010 Mr. Eek has produced several variants of his wallpaper in different color schemes, patterns and textures fitting for different interiors. You can create a room in a native theme, or bring country motives to a living-room. Also this pattern is an interesting choice for an art studio. For sure, old rusted timber can become a source of your inspiration.
Scrapwood in Design
Scrapwood wallpaper is a lucky find for those who always seek to join wild nature and always recall days spent in romantic air of wooden forest huts. Wooden background in office interior, dining room, or rest area will bring many pleasant nostalgic memories. It looks like Mr. Eek’s invention is something more than just a mere piece of paper.
Sometimes, one needs to escape from modern luxury rooms that are far from simple and natural. This feature has charmed many people. Thus, this year Scrapwood wallpaper collection will be displayed during Dutch Design Week 2013 in Eindhoven, Netherlands later this month. Previously wallpaper collection has found recognition among audience in New York. Let’s hope that this unusual wallpaper will be warmly accepted by interiorholic society and introduced to their homes.
