On December, 4 the main Christmas tree of America was officially opened in New York. It is a 75 feet tree, decorated with 45,000 LEDs. Swarovski has created a star for its top with a diameter of almost 10 feet. Mayor Michael Bloomberg personally lit the lights on the Christmas tree at exactly 9:00 pm. This event was broadcast live on television and watched by over a million people. The tree will stay in New York until January 7, 2014.

Claridge’s, the legendary London hotel, annually invites internationally renowned designers to design a Christmas tree that will stand in the lobby over the festive period. This year the honor went to the Sicilian designer duo Dolce & Gabbana who introduced Italian spirit into classic interiors of the Claridge’s. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were the fourth designers who participated in the collaboration with the hotel. Before them designers John Galliano, Alber Elbaz and Alexander McQueen decorated Christmas trees for the hotel.

French journalist Marie-Christiane Marek held a charity event “Designer Christmas Trees” for the 18th time, which in 2013 was attended by Jean Paul Gaultier, Kenzo, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Chantal Thomass and Hermès. The unusual holiday trees from the event will be sold at auction and the raised funds will be donated to fight cancer. One of the most interesting exhibits of the year is a Christmas tree by Christian Dior created entirely out of roses – a symbol of the fashion house.

A Japanese art director Sebastian Masuda created a Melty Go-Round Christmas tree, which will be put up before Christmas, as a showpiece at the “Christmas in the Sky 2013 – Sky Illumination” in the Roppongi Hills.
