Modern Architecture: House Made of Glass
The homes are becoming more and more transparent. The architecture allows to blend indoor and outdoors in order to bring more light into the house as well as allow the residents enjoy the outdoor landscapes. And while there are certain pluses of a transparent home the privacy issues arise every time such a project is being conceived.
Glass House Designs

No matter the minuses of living on display we see more and more glass elements in modern architecture. They are used to create an airy living space or to open up more private areas like bedroom and bathrooms to the views of garden greenery.
Designer Ennio Arosio has taken the ‘glass house’ concept to a whole new level with his literally glass house. A concept reliased by an architect Carlo Santambrogio. The concept house looks like a glass cube featuring two stories, glass walls, roof and even stairs, standing in the snowy forest.

While such a house would seem extremely exposed the modern projects that were already built aren’t exactly too private either. For instance, a house by John Robert Nilsson Architects has entire two walls glazed and exposed to the surrounding mountain green views.
Another example of glass house architecture is a residence by Sagan Piechota Architecture. The house is almost entirely made of glass allowing the beautiful views to be enjoyed from indoors.

This is not really about architecture itself, but more about architecture as a vessel to view the scenery,” Daniel Piechota

The transparent house includes wooden frame and panel that hides a part of the house creating a small privacy block while the rest of it is fully exposed.

H House by Wiel Arets Architects is made of glass and concrete which results in semi transparent look. The privacy is achieved thanks to white curtains that are featred in the living room, kitchen, and even bathroom which also has transparent walls.

The glass house by Gareth Hoskins Architects is opening the view to the garden with glass walls enhancing the living room. The kitchen is tucked away while the bedroom features a glazed wall opening up to the garden. The privacy is increased thanks to the stone fence that surrounds the house.

The houses though aren’t the only building types that follow this trend. Williams Studio designed by gh3 features glazed walls that let plenty of natural light in for photographer’s work.
